5 Common Myths About Energy Healing- Debunked by a Reiki Nurse
Energy Healing is becoming more mainstream, but with growing interest comes plenty of misinformation. As a registered nurse and Reiki Master, I’ve seen firsthand how powerful energy work can be. I’ve also heard just about every myth out there! Today, I’m setting the record straight on some of the biggest misconceptions.
Myth #1: Energy healing is just a placebo.
Truth: While belief can certainly enhance healing, energy healing works regardless of your mindset. Scientific studies (like those published in the Journal of Evidence-Based Complimentary & Alternative Medicine) show physiological changes like reduced cortisol levels and improved heart rate variability following Reiki sessions.
Myth #2: You have to be spiritual or religious for it to work.
Truth: Reiki and other forms of energy healing don’t require belief in any faith or dogma. They support the body’s natural ability to heal- no matter what your spiritual background is.
Myth #3: It’s only for emotional or spiritual problems.
Truth: Energy healing supports emotional, spiritual, and physical well-being. Many people report relief from chronic pain, fatigue, insomnia, and more.
Myth #4: You have to be in-person for it to work.
Truth: Distance Reiki is just as powerful as in-person sessions. Energy is not limited by space or time. I offer online sessions every week and have seen beautiful breakthroughs with clients from all over the country.
Myth #5: It’s not backed by science.
Truth: There’s growing research supporting energy medicine. Studies show measurable outcomes like reduced pain, anxiety, and depression following energy healing sessions.
Energy healing may be hard to see with the eyes- but its impact is felt deeply. If you’re curious but unsure, you’re not alone. I invite you to experience it for yourself with an open heart.
